*9/12/25 Important update regarding shipping to the USA.

We want to provide an update on the current shipping situation to the United States.
Last week, we sent out a few test shipments to the USA to better understand how packages are being handled by customs and the postal service. We are still waiting for the results of these tests and will update you as soon as we have more information.

The main reason Japan Post is not currently accepting packages to the USA is that there is no clear system in place for collecting the new U.S. tariffs. Once either the U.S. government or Japan Post establishes a clear process for tax collection, we expect shipping services to resume.

We will keep a close eye on this situation and will be completely transparent about any new costs, so you will know exactly what you are paying for before your order ships.

In the meantime, please feel free to place your orders. We will personally contact each customer with a U.S. address to discuss your order and provide all available options, whether that's holding the order, exploring an alternative shipping method, or canceling it.

*7/27/25 Important Update: Shipping Options for Orders Over $200

To my valued, long-term customers, you may have noticed a new shipping option for orders over $200. This change, while difficult to implement, has become necessary to ensure the continued sustainability of my small, one-girl store.

Over the past three months, we've unfortunately seen an unusual increase in lost international packages, particularly affecting larger orders (those over $200 USD). These incidents often occur after packages arrive in the destination country, disappearing within the postal system, whether on their way to customs or while at a sorting center.

As international shipping from Japan can be costly, and these valuable lost packages were initially sent with "free shipping" (meaning the cost was absorbed by the store), these losses are simply not sustainable for a small business. While I always strive for perfect delivery, I cannot afford to continually cover significant losses for issues that occur beyond my control once the package has been shipped.

New Shipping Options for Orders Over $200:
We now offer two distinct options for orders totaling over $200 USD:

1. First Class Mail (No Insurance): This option does not include insurance coverage. If you select First Class Mail for orders over $200, please understand that Little Happy Things cannot be held responsible for packages lost in transit, and we will no longer be able to offer partial refunds or reimbursements in such cases.

2. EMS Service (Recommended & Insured): For greater security and peace of mind, we highly recommend selecting our EMS service. EMS offers full insurance coverage against loss or damage. To make this more accessible, we will cover 2/3 of the EMS shipping cost, and you will pay the remaining. If an EMS package is unfortunately lost, you will receive a full refund, either directly from us or through the insurance claim process.

Shipping for Orders Under $200:
For all other orders under $200, our standard shipping options remain available. However, we strongly encourage you to consider upgrading to EMS service for enhanced security and insurance coverage, even for smaller purchases. It offers much greater peace of mind for both of us!
